Vlex, you sexy stud you

I've been working with a local writer on creating pin ups of all the main characters of her sci fy series. So human teen girl stuck in space with sexy humanoid guys? Done and done

What was fun about this project? She wanted them in a different anime styles. Its good to flex my illustration muscles and tippy toe out of my comfort zone.

ooh Vlex ;)

FUCK IT ... ponies

Sometimes ya just have to paint a fat flying unicorn, because fuck it

Hidden talents book cover

Elysian Fields Press's writer, Edward Branley, approached me to create the cover and title graphic for his recent book: HIDDEN TALENTS. Magic, tradition, and cutey "cut the shit" main guy all set in New Orleans? I'm in for sure

It hasn't launched yet, but I can't wait to get my hands on this one

And hey- look- I did something in color. Well would ya look at that.

FEAST 2015

FEAST is a New Orleans anthology I participate in on and off. 2013's entry can be found in previous posts of this blog, and is so different.. how does one go from droned girls to very literate cowboys? Who knows how an artist's mind works.

Want a copy? They are sold on Easy here:

Hey, did you know I designed a shirt

er-yup

It's at +1 Gaming
It has Jace on it
Can't go wrong there

Upon reflection: True, this was my first shirt commission, but it was also my first commission where the customer was using the art for something else- something else I had no control over how the end result would look like. I'm glade I did this, but oh that white halo around the image on the shirt drives me crazy.

SUN

My partner and I have been working on a graphic novel for sometime now. It's been... an...event. Between loosing models (twice), to ink spills, to extremely curious cats who wonder what sitting on paper would feel like.. ha, but still "fun" doesn't even cover it. At the end of the day, my hands are covered in ink and paint, and really isn't that what it's all about?

gallery work: project BOB

Little sneak peak on some work I'm doing for a solo show in the fall.

Figaro twins

Oh how I feel about the Figaro twins: Edgar and Sabin. Ya, I'm a cliche' product of the 80s/90s- FF6 was my first rpg. A girl never forgets her first.

and finale!

Happiness

Print created for the 2015 NOLA Comic-con. I've been playing around with imposing figures upon themselves- didn't come out too shabby

Wizard promotional art

A few prints were sold during AWDI's launch- the favorite being Pig Face Girl and China Doll Monkey, two characters being introduced later on in the series.

And then there's Dom, the unfortunate necromancer

A Wizard Did It

Pages 1-6, and the special christmas edition!

Christmas- how would a shut in necromancer know of world religion?

The comic that wasnt

For all of 2014, I worked on a web comic called A Wizard Did It. The story followed little 18 yr old Ned- Ned the necromancer (what a goofy name for a goofy kid)

Not for nothing, but when did I reach the age where 18 yr olds are kids to me? Getting old is surreal.

The comic proper went for shy over a month, and had a few christmas-themed specials, since it was released December 2014.

The poor thing did not live long on its site. Shame, but that's life haha. I offer it now for the archives

So I should blog if I have one

Digital art time- I've been trying to explore all the different texture brushes I've been stocking pilling.  Yes, much like pokemon, I have to get them all.

VORTRAND- you sexy beast, you

Inking has always been one of my favorite things to do- a little dry brush here, a little splatter there, ink ALL over my hands and face (and doors and walls and sink) by the end of the day. This piece is not finished yet, but here's the process thus far:

Process: legs

Prepping ideas to submit to the lovely Carly over at Hyph3n Gallery. We're planning to hopefully have a solo show of just my work next year- around October again.

exciting ermaright?

Here's a little sneak peak on thumbnail, and some insight on my process (hint, it's "make a mess- then rebuild- then make a mess again- then rebuild" )

NOLA COMIC-CON

What a BLAST! Thank you everyone who came and hung out with us last weekend. It's rather fun talking to people about my comic. Is it ok to admit I still get tickled over Pat Robertson being the villain of A Wizard Did iT? For the con, I created magnets with our Pat Robertson Meme on it- there was rather a lot of approval for the approval of Pat Robertson.

DRINK N DRAW!

It was safe to visit me at my booth- my booth was B9 (yuck yuck yuck)

my booth buddy and I breaking down the table, while drinking a beer, and being our charming selves

Really- con life is a good life. Doodling should be everyone's pass time.

of course 5 yr old zombie princess.
